Enhanced Recharge Project Phase 1A

The Enhanced Recharge Project (ERP) consists of improvements to existing diversion and recharge facilities owned and operated by the San Bernardino Valley Water Conservation District (SBVWCD). Improvements included adding a debris removal system and rubber dam gate at the intake and constructing a new sedimentation basin, canal, pipeline, and recharge basins to increase the amount of stormwater that can be captured and recharged from the Santa Ana River just downstream from the Seven Oaks Dam. Read more...

Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan

San Bernardino Valley has embarked on a process of developing a Resilience Roadmap, also known as a Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan (CARP). This effort sets out to address and plan for the future of water supply and variability in climate, ensuring that there is reliable access to water in the San Bernardino Valley for decades to come. Read more...

Inland Empire Brine Line

The Inland Empire Brine Line (Brine Line) is a gravity pipeline that delivers non-reclaimable waste from the Santa Ana River watershed upstream of Orange County to a treatment plant in Orange County owned and operated by Orange County Sanitation District. Various water agencies throughout the watershed purchased capacity in the Brine Line to fund its construction.  Read more...

Santa Ana River Water Rights

San Bernardino Valley has provided leadership in the management of water resources throughout its service area since its formation in 1954. In addition to its State Water Project contract that is used to provide supplemental water within its service area, San Bernardino Valley has diligently pursued the acquisition of additional local surface water in an effort to increase water supply reliability for its customers.  Read more...

Watershed Connect

For many years, the San Bernardino Valley has been challenged by prolonged drought, increased wildfires, and climate uncertainty. In response, the region is investing in collaborative solutions to diversify its water supply portfolio, recharge its groundwater basins, restore critical habitat and secure a sustainable water future. Read more...

Sunrise Ranch Master Plan

In 2022, the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District acquired 1,658 acres of undeveloped land, which we refer to as Sunrise Ranch. San Bernardino Valley has engaged with a group of consultants specializing in urban planning, water supply infrastructure, architectural services, and nature-based building solutions to work with the community and develop a Master Plan for this property. Read more...

Forecast Informed Reservoir Operations

Forecast Informed Reservoir Operations (FIRO) is an innovative approach that uses modern weather forecasting technology and enhanced monitoring to selectively retain or release water from reservoirs in anticipation of future conditions. FIRO leverages improved forecasts of atmospheric rivers, which are responsible for nearly half of all water supply and over 95% of all flood damages in California. FIRO is being explored at Seven Oaks Dam to maximize groundwater recharge and downstream habitat while ensuring flood risk management objectives are met or exceeded. Read more...
